The process begins after the person who will use a prosthesis for the first time is told that he can use the prosthesis under the supervision of a doctor after the amputation wounds are healed and the stitches are removed. During this period, the person is given necessary bandaging and exercise training to prevent any contractures in the knee. . These exercises cover a period of approximately 1 week. After bandaging and exercises are completed, measurement is taken.

How to Attach a Below-Knee Prosthetic Leg?

Depending on the type of application to be performed, the user first wears a soft socket or silicone liner, which is a soft product, to prevent irritation on the stump, then attaches the prosthesis to the leg and starts walking.

Warranty Periods Vary Depending on the Product Brand Applied to; Average Warranty Periods;

6 months for silicone liner

3 months for gel knee brace

2 years for carbon or polyurethane feet

2 years for modular parts.

The social security institution covers a new prosthesis every 5 years or if your prosthesis’s warranty period has expired and it cannot be used.

SSI Prosthetic Leg Payments 2023

2023 SSI prosthetic leg payments vary between 6,555 TL and 18,112 TL for below-knee prosthesis. For above-knee prosthesis, it varies between 14,436 TL and 82,000 TL. From the figures mentioned above, SSI deducts 20% from the insured employee and 10% from the retired.

Örneğin; Mr. Ahmet wants to buy a below-knee prosthetic foot worth 30,000 TL. SSI will pay 18,112 TL for the prosthesis you choose. Since Mr. Ahmet is an insured employee, SSI makes a 20% deduction and pays 14,489 TL. In this case, Mr. Ahmet can have a prosthesis worth 30,000 TL by paying a total fee of 15,510 TL.
